Grandma Mellinger made Beautiful home made Quilts! She could make anything. I remember one time she was having a sale at Aunt Dot's in Burlington when Dot lived in the manor. I went over so I could buy some of her things. She ended up giving me anything I wanted and wouldn't let me pay her. She made me some nice things as gifts over the years as she did for all of her family. She made me a real warm home made bedspread and we used it on our bed until it was nothing but rags because it was so worn out. John & I loved that warm bedspread. Grandma was quite the seamstress! I remember hearing from family members how Grandma Mellinger made the pool hall a home there in Burnside when she & her kid's lived in there. She took sheets and made private rooms for her kid's etc. I know she could take anything and turn it into soemthing nice making due with what she had. She worked hard and had a huge family and learned how to stretch every penny to make ends meet. Grandma was a great cook as well!
